About the position

Nanook Recreation is seeking a dedicated Facility Operations Coordinator & Maintenance Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in ensuring a welcoming and functional environment for all patrons. The successful candidate will oversee facility rentals, conduct routine maintenance and repairs on exercise equipment to guarantee safety and reliability, and serve as the primary point of contact for all facility maintenance inquiries and cleaning operations. This position is essential for maintaining the high standards of our recreation center, which is a vital part of the university community's active and healthy lifestyle initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, a passion for customer service, and a background in facility management and/or maintenance. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure that the recreation center remains a top-notch destination for fitness and fun. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating with various departments to ensure that all facilities are well-maintained and that any issues are addressed promptly. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community hub and support the mission of Nanook Recreation, which is to provide the university community with opportunities and facilities to lead active, healthy lifestyles through sport and recreation on campus and in the beautiful wilderness of Alaska.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee facility rentals and ensure proper scheduling and usage of the recreation facilities.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on exercise equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facility maintenance inquiries and cleaning operations.
  • Coordinate with various departments to address maintenance issues promptly and efficiently.
  • Ensure a welcoming and functional environment for all patrons of the recreation center.

Requirements

  • High School graduate.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Alaska driver's license, or the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
