About the position

CACI is seeking an experienced Spacecraft Electrical Power System (EPS) Engineer to support NASA's U.S. Deorbit Vehicle project, which aims to safely deorbit the International Space Station (ISS) upon its retirement. This role involves system engineering with a focus on electrical power systems, including energy generation, storage, and distribution. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders, ensuring compliance with power quality requirements and contributing to critical project lifecycle reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Review and oversight of system level requirements, integration, verification, validation, and certification.
  • Deep understanding of energy storage, energy generation, power distribution, and energy conversion at the system level.
  • Work with and coordinate with various stakeholders within the U.S. Deorbit Vehicle partnerships throughout NASA and private industry.
  • Contribute to NASA project lifecycle milestone reviews such as System Design Reviews (SDR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), and Critical Design Reviews (CDR).
  • Perform systems engineering, such as hazard analysis, on vehicle subsystem domains.
  • Support Safety Review Panels (SRP).

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident for access to US Government facilities.
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of electrical power systems experience required.
  • Systems Engineering experience, especially involving the verifying of requirements.
  • Excellent people skills able to facilitate meetings with various stakeholders.
  • Must be flexible, open to new challenges in a dynamic environment, and possess strong technical expertise combined with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with little supervision.
  • Must be a highly responsible, team-oriented individual with strong work ethic.
  • Must have highly developed coordination and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems.
  • Experience with aerospace vehicle (spacecraft or aircraft) electrical power systems.
  • Experience with power system stability, electrical protective devices, power conversion (such as dc/dc converters and transformers) and various electrical energy sources (such as batteries, solar arrays, etc.).
  • Familiar with fault tolerance of power architecture.
  • Experience with Simulink/MATLAB or other system level evaluation tools.
  • Experience with NASA requirements documents.
  • Experience in the NASA/JSC environment or other highly technical environment is a plus.
