About the position

As the National Account Manager for the Family Dollar/Dollar Tree accounts within the Pet and Sweet Baked Snacks Sales Team, you will play a pivotal role in driving profitable sales growth for both JM Smucker (JMS) and its strategic partners. This position requires you to reside within 200 miles of Norfolk, Virginia, and will primarily involve working from a home office. Your responsibilities will encompass business management, where you will build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders. You will develop strategies aimed at driving brand and category growth, ensuring that sales and profit goals are not only met but exceeded. In this role, you will take ownership of negotiations for joint business planning, new items, and key initiatives, influencing key stakeholders through fact-based presentations that yield mutually beneficial results. You will also support the Supply Chain team to implement solutions that enhance the partnership with Family Dollar/Dollar Tree, fostering innovation and business opportunities. Managing the execution of everyday business operations, including internal systems, customer forms, and contracts, will be a critical aspect of your role. Your responsibilities will extend to business planning and analysis, where you will own the annual business plans and Joint Business Plans. You will conduct in-depth analyses of sales and profit components, identifying merchandising, promotional, and supply chain opportunities. Utilizing data from sources like 1010 and syndicated data, you will inform strategic and tactical plans while managing the internal sales system, trade budget, and pricing objectives. Additionally, you will forecast monthly and quarterly sales, ensuring effective communication for production planning, and drive business process improvements by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with customers and internal constituents.
  • Develop strategies to drive brand/category growth and achieve or exceed sales/profit goals.
  • Own and lead negotiation for joint business planning, new items, key initiatives, etc.
  • Influence key stakeholders to implement solutions through fact-based presentations that deliver beneficial results.
  • Support and partner with the Supply Chain team to drive solutions with Family Dollar/Dollar Tree.
  • Grow partnership between customer and internal cross-functional teams to drive innovation and business opportunities.
  • Manage execution of everyday business, including internal systems, customer forms, and contracts.
  • Own annual business plans & Joint Business Plans.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of sales and profit components, including merchandising, promotional and supply chain opportunities.
  • Work with 1010 and syndicated data sources to manage and inform strategic and tactical plans.
  • Manage internal sales system (promotions, deductions, forecast, etc).
  • Effectively manage trade budget and distribution, shelving, merchandising and pricing objectives.
  • Forecast monthly and quarterly sales and communicate internally for production planning.
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial and data analysis, including pre/post event analysis.
  • Drive business process improvements by working closely with cross-functional business partners and team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of Consumer Packaged Goods sales experience with direct national account HQ management experience
  • Previous experience calling on Dollar Class of Trade
  • Proven leader in negotiation success
  • Strong technical skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills (negotiation, selling, presentations, etc)
  • Ability to relocate in the future for other growth opportunities with the Company
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of work schedule

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous Dollar and/or Dollar Tree experience
  • Joint Business Planning and pro forma experience
  • Proficient in use of syndicated data sources (IRI/Nielsen) and customer data sources (MIQ, POL,etc.)
  • Working understanding of wholesale distribution model and services
