About the position

The National Account Manager at Spectrum Brands is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies for existing and potential new business with retailers. This role involves managing account-specific promotional plans, conducting business reviews, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with brand strategies. The position requires a strong focus on achieving volume growth and market penetration objectives while utilizing insight selling skills to foster retailer growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sales strategies, programs, and plans for existing and potential new business with retailers.
  • Develop annual quota, profit plan, and sales action plan, monitoring actual results vs. plan throughout the year.
  • Conduct business reviews of accounts and present them to management as appropriate.
  • Develop/manage account-specific promotional plans, coordinating with finance, trade marketing, marketing, and sales management.
  • Recommend opportunities for increased penetration based on knowledge of customer and category.
  • Establish appropriate account contacts and maintain an effective call program.
  • Handle inquiries, complaints, and service programs, acting as a liaison with promotions and other relevant activities.
  • Forecast and partner with cross-functional teams to align on supply controls.
  • Utilize insight selling skills to develop and present programs focusing on retailer growth.
  • Lead customer meetings and trade conferences as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field required.
  • 5 to 7 years direct sales/field experience.
  • Direct selling experience with key customers required.
  • Strong analytical skills for fact-based selling.
  • Strong verbal and non-verbal communication and negotiation skills.
  • Organization and prioritization skills.
  • Effective time management, detail, and accuracy.
  • Goal-oriented individual focused on obtaining objectives.
  • Ability to think strategically and make sound business decisions.
  • High level of integrity and technical aptitude.
