About the position

The National Account Manager at Cogent Communications is responsible for identifying and generating new business opportunities within a designated sales territory, focusing on the Mid Market and non-named National Account segments. This role involves direct engagement with key decision-makers to promote and sell high-speed internet and network services, leveraging consultative selling techniques to meet monthly revenue goals. The position is designed to support personal growth through mentorship and training in a structured office environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory.
  • Source and hunt for new business opportunities focused on the Mid Market and non-named National Account target market segments.
  • Engage in direct calling, emailing, and other contact efforts to qualify and generate new business opportunities.
  • Conduct field work such as building walks, lobby events, and customer face-to-face meetings to complement prospecting efforts.
  • Utilize consultative and relationship-building selling techniques to identify current and future connectivity solutions.
  • Position Cogent's services effectively to help customers and prospects.
  • Achieve monthly revenue goals by selling into large commercial and retail buildings, office parks, and professional campuses.

Requirements

  • Previous sales experience with a track record of success is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and generate new business through extensive prospecting and research.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment with revenue deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office and a CRM is a plus.
  • A college degree is preferred but not required.
