We are currently seeking an experienced Senior or AVP, National Accounts Casualty Underwriter to join our team in New York City. In this role, your expertise in relationship building and problem-solving will be crucial in driving positive impacts for our customers, communities, and colleagues. You will act as a customer advocate, focusing on enhancing the customer experience by understanding their unique risks and providing the best end-to-end insurance solutions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent market-facing and technical skills, with experience working with brokers in the NY Metro area. This position involves managing a renewal book of business while also being responsible for generating new business opportunities within our National Accounts Casualty products. You will develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across various industries, leveraging your underwriting acumen in risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to ensure a profitable book of new and renewal business. Collaboration across business units, including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting, will be essential as you gain extensive knowledge in this growing and innovative industry. You will be empowered to utilize your negotiation and interpersonal skills to foster relationships with preferred distribution partners.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with broker partners and customers across all industries in support of National Accounts Casualty business objectives.
  • Leverage Casualty underwriting acumen across risk assessment, exposure evaluation, and pricing to generate and maintain a profitable book of new and renewal business.
  • Collaborate across business units including claims, finance, risk engineering, actuary, and technical underwriting.
  • Utilize market-facing, negotiation, and interpersonal skills to grow and develop relationships with preferred distribution partners.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area (Senior level).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area (Senior level).
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area (Senior level).
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area (Senior level).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working on time-restrained quotes on new and renewal business.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area (AVP level).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area (AVP level).
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area (AVP level).
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area (AVP level).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office.
