About the position

The National Account Strategic Manager is responsible for developing retention strategies for large, complex clients within Elevance Health. This role involves building relationships with client organizations, creating multi-year strategic plans for retention and growth, and managing the annual renewal process for accounts. The position requires collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth account service and the application of innovative solutions to meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with client organizations and develop a comprehensive understanding of client needs.
  • Develop multi-year strategic plans that are mutually acceptable to clients to achieve retention and growth.
  • Increase the growth of specialty business within existing accounts.
  • Support field sales staff with requests for proposal (RFP) responses, proposals, client presentations, and underwriting coordination.
  • Manage the annual renewal process for accounts, including underwriting negotiation and preparation of renewal analysis.
  • Work directly with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth account service operations.
  • Apply practical and innovative solutions for clients, including opportunities for penetration sales.
  • Interpret financial data and reporting to develop business strategies for Elevance Health and clients.
  • Mentor lower-level staff to drive positive culture change and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) required.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in account management or sales, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Sales license required to be obtained and appointed within 60 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with groups greater than 10,000.
  • Extensive health plans and/or health benefits account management experience for National/Jumbo accounts.
  • Experience interacting confidently with senior management and executive level stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, oral, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, MS Teams, and Salesforce.
