About the position

The National Category Sales Manager for Retail at Hormel Foods Corporation is responsible for driving the sales strategy and execution for assigned brands on a national level. This role involves collaborating with various teams to achieve sales goals, manage trade budgets, and develop strategic plans that align with marketing efforts. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment to support brand growth and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and maintain the overall business plan to achieve volume, share, and sales goals for assigned brands.
  • Champion assigned categories and brands on a national market basis.
  • Build and allocate volume objectives and trade budgets for brands on a macro level and down to each customer.
  • Support GM Customer Planning for the brands responsible.
  • Lead the strategic planning process in collaboration with marketing to develop brand executional strategies.
  • Manage brand trade resources and investments to drive profitable growth.
  • Coordinate the strategic planning process across the Retail sales organization.
  • Partner with sales to ensure alignment of brand and customer strategy during negotiations.
  • Provide forecasts on volume, net sales, trade, and gross margin for respective brands.
  • Create field-ready insights-driven sales solutions to drive brand and category growth.
  • Develop monthly to 18-month rolling volume forecasts and annual trade forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of sales/marketing/sales strategy experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Pattern of initiative.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment.
  • Strong persuasive skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be a Citizen or National of the United States, a lawful permanent resident, or have authorization to work in the United States.
