About the position

The National Category Sales Manager for Retail at Hormel Foods Corporation is a pivotal role responsible for driving the overall business plan to achieve volume, market share, and sales goals for assigned brands. This position is based at the corporate office in Austin, Minnesota, and requires a strategic mindset to champion assigned categories and brands on a national scale. The manager will build and allocate volume objectives and trade budgets for the brands, ensuring alignment with customer planning and sales strategies. In this role, the manager will lead the strategic planning process by collaborating closely with the marketing team to develop executional strategies that meet growth expectations. This includes managing brand trade resources and investments to foster profitable growth while overseeing the strategic planning process across the Retail sales organization. The manager will partner with sales teams to ensure that brand and customer strategies are aligned, actively participating in customer negotiations to drive success. Additionally, the National Category Sales Manager will provide forecasts on volume, net sales, trade, and gross margin for respective brands, contributing to the organizational outlook. The role also involves creating insights-driven sales solutions that can be leveraged by field teams to enhance brand and category growth. Monthly to 18-month rolling volume forecasts and annual trade forecasts will be developed to support demand planning processes, including S&OE, S&OP, and IBP planning.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and maintain the overall business plan to achieve volume, share, and sales goals for assigned brands.
  • Champion assigned categories and brands on a national market basis.
  • Build and allocate volume objectives and trade budgets for brands on a macro level and down to each customer.
  • Support GM Customer Planning for the brands responsible.
  • Lead the strategic planning process by collaborating with marketing to develop brand executional strategies.
  • Manage brand trade resources and investments to drive profitable growth.
  • Oversee the strategic planning process across the Retail sales organization.
  • Partner with sales to ensure alignment of brand and customer strategy.
  • Provide forecasts on volume, net sales, trade, and gross margin for respective brands.
  • Create field-ready insights-driven sales solutions for brand and category growth.
  • Develop monthly to 18-month rolling volume forecasts and annual trade forecasts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of sales/marketing/sales strategy experience.
  • Strong analytical skills.
