About the position

The National Food Service Sales Manager is a key role responsible for driving sales and business development in the food service sector across the country. Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, this position involves managing the complete sales cycle, from prospecting to closing deals, while ensuring the achievement of sales targets. The successful candidate will work closely with sales and marketing teams to develop strategies that align with company objectives and enhance customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potential customers and cultivate new business opportunities through market research and networking.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals in the Wholesale, Broadline, and Food Service sector.
  • Develop an annual sales plan in collaboration with the North American marketing team.
  • Create customer-specific food service business plans and budgets that align with organizational objectives.
  • Contribute to the planning and delivery of promotional and sales communications materials.
  • Review and confirm inventory replenishment orders with the procurement team based on sales plans and customer demand.
  • Maintain and strengthen customer relationships through effective communication and distribution strategies.
  • Identify prospective customers and distribution channels to convert into profitable business.
  • Monitor stocks and maintain proper inventory levels in regional storage centers.
  • Communicate with suppliers to stay informed about market trends and events.
  • Achieve financial, customer, product, and business goals in the wholesale and food services market.
  • Prepare monthly sales reports and keep the Regional Sales Director informed of market developments.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in national food services sales with a focus on strategy development and implementation.
  • Experience with major food service companies such as Sysco or US Foods is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the food services business, including sales budgets and marketing strategies.
  • Ability to create promotional campaigns across various media.
  • Understanding of the case ready meat processing system.
  • Strong Excel skills and knowledge of presentation and ERP software.
