About the position

The National Key Account Manager at UNFI Canada is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing sales and marketing activities to increase market share in key accounts. This role involves strategic planning, overseeing field sales representatives, tracking revenue goals, and maintaining professional relationships with resellers and suppliers. The position requires a strong focus on customer relations, financial results, and innovation in product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and track the annual customer business plan.
  • Develop the annual Budget in collaboration with the Sales Director.
  • Update budget via quarterly forecast process.
  • Track ongoing risks and opportunities via R&O tracker.
  • Leverage retailer relationships to expand business development opportunities.
  • Analyze consumer, shopper, retailer, and competitor trends to design strategies.
  • Conduct regular customer meetings to review financial results and discuss strategies.
  • Lead development of the annual customer promotion plan with vendors/brokers.
  • Execute price increases into customer and UNFI business systems.
  • Work with brokers/vendors to establish annual customer promotional plan.
  • Track and monitor vendor trade spending and execute promotional pricing plans.
  • Develop new revenue opportunities with key clients and maintain industry knowledge.
  • Engage with vendors, brokers, and retailers at trade shows to drive business opportunities.
  • Forecast, track, and manage topline sales and margin profitably for UNFI and the retailer.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations and communicate customer programs to the Field Sales team.

Requirements

  • Post Secondary Education in Business, Management or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum seven years managing conventional key accounts and related processes.
  • Previous experience managing categories, a trade spend budget, promotional calendar, and planogram resets.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Powerpoint, Word).
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, be well organized, and motivated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience managing key accounts within the organic/natural consumer-packaged goods industry.
  • Good accounting and business math skills.
