In this position, you will develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients and carriers. You will be responsible for effectively evaluating, selecting, assigning, and servicing loads. Your role will involve partnering with clients to understand their business, products, and transportation needs, as well as maintaining relationships with primary and secondary carriers for contracted freight moves. You will research the market to evaluate loads for potential profitability, selecting or rejecting loads based on profitability and the need to maintain ongoing business relationships. Additionally, you will analyze past carrier performance, schedules, costs, and equipment availability to select the appropriate carrier for each load. As a liaison between clients, carriers, shippers, and receivers, you will evaluate potential clients and authorize agreements with approved clients. You will also respond to RFPs/RFQs as appropriate for MegaCorp's business, negotiate fixed-rate contracts, and manage constantly changing carrier rates for both the spot market and fixed-rate contracts. Monitoring the progress of loads and addressing potential in-transit issues, such as weather problems, will be crucial to ensuring timely delivery while managing costs. You will analyze and resolve in-transit issues, taking client satisfaction and costs into consideration, and ensure all fiduciary responsibilities are met, documenting all fees and costs for each load. Additionally, you will resolve client claims and receivables issues, maintain up-to-date information on MegaCorp's Transportation Management software, and promote MegaCorp's business through participation in relevant associations and conventions. Providing guidance and training to Account Manager Trainees will also be part of your responsibilities, along with other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, negotiate, and agree on fixed-rate contracts as appropriate for MegaCorp's business.
  • Negotiate constantly changing carrier rates for both the spot market and to establish fixed-rate contracts.
  • Evaluate carrier performance, including safety and insurance coverage, and make future carrier selections accordingly.
  • Monitor the progress of loads and address potential in-transit issues, such as weather problems, to ensure timely delivery while managing costs.
  • Analyze and resolve in-transit issues, consulting with clients and recommending solutions as appropriate.
  • Ensure all fiduciary responsibilities are met and that all fees and costs are documented for each load.
  • Resolve client claims and receivables issues.
  • Accurately enter and maintain up-to-date information on MegaCorp Transportation Management software.
  • Promote MegaCorp's business through participation in relevant associations and conventions.
  • Provide guidance and training to Account Manager Trainees as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in business development.
  • Minimum 2 years in management.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, self-starter.
  • Willing and able to be on call as required.
  • Ability to learn quickly, analyze situations, and make decisions that support the ongoing success of MegaCorp.
