About the position

As a Strategic Accounts National Sales Manager at Graybar, you will be responsible for managing a high-performance sales organization to effectively achieve sales, gross margin, and gross margin rate budgets assigned within the Strategic Accounts organization. This role involves overseeing at least one direct account and establishing sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales budgets for the assigned national vertical market. You will be expected to meet and/or exceed assigned revenue and target metric objectives within the market, demonstrating overall expertise in the vertical market assignment by establishing a clear strategy with growth potential. Your role will also include attracting expertise and talent in the vertical market to ensure an excellent customer experience while capitalizing on maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), original equipment manufacturer (OEM), and capital expenditure (CAPEX) opportunities at all accounts. In addition, you will manage national supplier relationships, business plans, and contractual agreements, recommending sales and marketing programs while setting short- and long-term sales strategies. As a senior relationship manager for key customers, you will lead the coordination of customer efforts with all departments, including the National projects team, proposals, and implementation team. Your responsibilities will also include providing supervision through field visits, observations, and measurement of results, which will encompass performance evaluations and salary reviews. You will attend meetings, seminars, and conferences as appropriate, establishing a companywide reputation of vertical expertise and demonstrating value by bringing new revenue streams to the Districts while ensuring national customers are well-served.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 7+ years experience in National Sales and Marketing; 10+ years experience preferred
  • 4 year degree preferred
  • Knowledge of the wholesale distribution industry and export business including pricing, quotes, logistics, and export compliance
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement techniques and practices
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Negotiation and results-oriented skills
  • Ability to leverage resources effectively and make fact-based decisions using appropriate information
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers
  • Ability to collaborate with branch and district management
  • Extensive travel required
