The National Sales Manager at Marriott International, Inc. is a pivotal role responsible for driving sales and achieving established objectives as outlined in the Marketing Plan and Goal Worksheet. This position requires a proactive approach to developing and executing personal action plans aimed at soliciting key accounts and acquiring new business. The National Sales Manager will engage in various activities including phone solicitation, marketing initiatives, e-mail campaigns, site inspections, face-to-face sales missions, and attendance at trade shows to maximize sales activity. The role is based at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa, and the individual will be employed by the franchisee, Fontainebleau Development, which operates independently from Marriott International, Inc. In this role, the National Sales Manager will be tasked with prospecting new group business and conducting thorough research online to identify potential clients. Responding to inquiries and requests for proposals is a critical function, as is planning and executing a predetermined number of sales trips to feeder cities. The manager will also attend industry events as specified in the Marketing Plan and will monitor the operational execution of accounts in collaboration with various departments. Maintaining detailed account files, including those in CI-TY, and updating the database regularly are essential responsibilities. The National Sales Manager will analyze client room night histories for previous meetings and manage room blocks effectively. The position requires strong negotiation skills to establish rates for group accounts within the budgeted average rate guidelines. The ideal candidate will exhibit diplomacy, business analysis, and proposal writing skills, along with a professional demeanor suitable for a luxury environment. A minimum of five years of prior hotel sales experience or revenue operations is required, along with effective supervisory and communication skills. The ability to listen, understand, and clarify client concerns is crucial, as is being well-organized and demonstrating problem-solving capabilities. Experience in JW Marriott or luxury hotel environments is preferred, and a four-year college degree from an accredited university is also desirable.
