The National Sales Manager's primary responsibility is to meet established sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis as outlined in the Marketing Plan and Goal Worksheet. This role involves developing and executing personal action plans directed at the solicitation of key accounts and new account acquisition. Activities include phone solicitation, marketing, e-mail blasts, site inspections, face-to-face sales missions, and trade show attendance to achieve maximum activity required. The position is crucial for driving sales and ensuring the hotel's revenue targets are met through strategic planning and execution. In addition to prospecting new group business and researching business online, the National Sales Manager will respond to inquiries and requests for proposals. Planning and executing a predetermined number of sales trips in feeder cities is essential, as is attending industry events as indicated in the Marketing Plan. The manager will monitor the operational execution of accounts with all departments and research client room night histories for previous meetings while managing room blocks effectively. The role also requires planning and executing executive program presentations in feeder cities, maintaining in-depth account files, and assisting in updating the database on a continual basis while performing periodic audits. Understanding the sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels is vital, as is negotiating all rates for group accounts within the guidelines of the budgeted average rate. The National Sales Manager must exhibit diplomacy, business analysis, negotiation, and proposal writing and presentation skills, performing any other reasonable duties as required by management. A professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment is expected.
