About the position

The National Sales Manager at Mediacom Communications is responsible for the sales, development, and servicing of national and political accounts. The role aims to maximize revenue by actively directing, supporting, and assisting OnMedia's national representation firm, Ampersand. The manager will develop and maintain professional relationships with national advertising buyers, Ampersand representatives, and economic decision-makers. This position may sit in Springfield, Missouri or West Des Moines, Iowa.

Responsibilities

  • Sell advertising on represented linear platforms to achieve assigned revenue budgets for each market.
  • Develop specific account selling strategies to increase shares and target new business to OnMedia represented platforms at the national level.
  • Function as the OnMedia point person for Ampersand sales people who are developing business for OnMedia markets - quoting rates; providing market research, advertising sales proposals, ratings and relevant information for specific avail requests.
  • Monitor OnMedia inventory and adjust pricing to drive maximum revenue and promote average unit rates on high demand programming and networks.
  • Ensure Ampersand has a clear overall understanding of OnMedia's markets including demographic profiles, competitive media, local strategies, client-focused promotional opportunities, etc.
  • Provide regular updates of insertable networks, zone reconfigurations, new representation etc., to Ampersand, with an understanding of the importance of key live sports programming, availability of limited inventory on networks and how that varies by network and system insertability.
  • Must be politically aware and understand the impact of key races across multiple geographies assigned and the market impact from a competitive perspective.
  • Maintain a detailed and organized record of all activities including sales, make-goods, changes and copy in accordance with OnMedia policies.
  • Collaborate with market specific National Sales Assistant. Maintain close and coordinated communication. Follow OnMedia traffic, schedule, and sales workflow policies to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide weekly account activity reports including accurate projections to each market manager and division management as requested and necessary.
  • Travel as necessary to key national markets.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
  • Requires regular attendance and work from assigned office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales and Marketing or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of cable, broadcast (or other media) direct sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve advertising sales opportunities and challenges.
  • Good working knowledge of marketing research and advertising agency media buying processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with industry software and technology such as Excel, Strata, Novar, Kantar or similar.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be willing and able to travel utilizing your own vehicle as necessary.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork abilities in the execution of daily job functions.
  • Ability to perform all the duties and responsibilities as described.
