In addition to strategic oversight, the National Sales Manager is tasked with leading and directing the work of Regional Sales Managers, ensuring that the team is motivated and aligned with the company's sales objectives. This role involves understanding customer motivations and effectively tapping into their needs and desires to drive sales. The National Sales Manager will also be responsible for coaching, teaching, and supervising assigned personnel, fostering effective employee relations, and proactively addressing employee development and issues. The position requires on-site leadership for project teams, building and motivating team members to meet project goals while adhering to their responsibilities and project milestones. The National Sales Manager will also oversee national sales activities, promotions, collections, and other initiatives to achieve sales targets, while maintaining strong business relationships at all levels. Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee sales policies, objectives, and initiatives for a specific business unit.
  • Set short and long-term sales strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of current sales programs.
  • Recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Lead and direct the work of Regional Sales Managers.
  • Coach, teach, and supervise assigned personnel.
  • Initiate and maintain effective employee relations, proactively coaching and developing employees.
  • Resolve employee issues by identifying problems and proposing resolutions.

  • Manage performance of direct reports in collaboration with Human Resources.

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Participate in Open Book Management activities.
  • Determine customers' needs and desires by specifying research needed to obtain market information and analyses.
  • Oversee national sales, promotions, collections, and other activities to achieve sales targets.
  • Build positive working relationships with existing clients for repeat business.
  • Identify and contact potential customers for new business opportunities and new markets.
  • Participate in sales conferences, industry meetings, and social networks to represent the company's brand.
  • Interact with the sales team to develop sales plans and strategies.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to plan promotional activities, trade shows, and special events.
  • Enhance the company's brand and reputation in the market through strategic business development.
  • Assist with preparing annual budgets, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide information for management by preparing sales forecasts and special reports.
  • Develop creative sales techniques and tactics to meet business goals.
  • Understand client needs and provide appropriate sales solutions in a timely manner.
  • Regularly review and recruit new customers in collaboration with Regional Sales Managers.
  • Prepare sales contracts, proposals, and reports for management and customers.
  • Develop sales presentations as required.
  • Obtain product market share to develop sales strategies.
  • Maintain sales management and reporting tools to achieve business objectives.
  • Coordinate with management to develop sales plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with product pricing by utilizing market research data and reviewing production and sales costs.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Oversee the transition of project team members to new projects and ensure lessons learned are applied to future efforts.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required in area of specialty.
  • A minimum of five years related experience is required for this position.
  • Leadership skills to lead, develop, and coach others in a proactive manner.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for employee selection, development, and training.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with expertise in distilling complicated topics to a broader audience.
  • Ability to take initiative to develop new strategies and outside-the-box ideas.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize Microsoft Office and knowledge of CRM software and other appropriate software platforms.
