The National Sales Manager at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is a pivotal role responsible for achieving established sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis as outlined in the Marketing Plan and Goal Worksheet. This position requires the development and execution of personal action plans aimed at soliciting key accounts and acquiring new business. The National Sales Manager will engage in various activities including phone solicitation, marketing initiatives, e-mail blasts, site inspections, face-to-face sales missions, and attendance at trade shows to maximize sales activity and meet targets. In this role, the National Sales Manager must maintain a professional demeanor suitable for a luxury environment, leveraging a minimum of five years of prior hotel sales experience and/or revenue operations. Effective supervisory and communication skills are essential, as the manager will need to listen to, understand, and clarify client concerns and issues. The ability to stay organized and demonstrate problem-solving skills is crucial for success in this position. Experience with JW Marriott or luxury hotel environments is preferred, as it aligns with the expectations of the role. The responsibilities of the National Sales Manager include prospecting new group business, responding to inquiries and requests for proposals, planning and executing sales trips in feeder cities, and attending industry events as outlined in the Marketing Plan. The manager will also monitor the operational execution of accounts across all departments, research client room night histories for previous meetings, and manage room blocks effectively. Additionally, the role involves planning and executing executive program presentations, maintaining detailed account files, and assisting in the continual updating of the database while performing periodic audits. Understanding the sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels is also a key aspect of the job, along with negotiating rates for group accounts within budgeted guidelines. The National Sales Manager will exhibit diplomacy, business analysis, negotiation, and proposal writing and presentation skills, while also being prepared to perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
