About the position

The National Sales Manager is responsible for driving profitable sales of Federal Industries products, primarily in the Eastern United States. This role involves managing and motivating an independent sales representative network, engaging with various stakeholders including equipment dealers and national chain accounts, and expanding market share in targeted segments. The position requires a strategic approach to sales, product management, and customer relationship building, ensuring a seamless customer experience while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the independent sales representative network by establishing sales goals and conducting monthly performance meetings.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable liaison to assist sales representatives in selecting appropriate products for each application.
  • Showcase Federal's products and competitive advantages by training sales representatives and dealers, participating in trade shows, and supporting open houses.
  • Travel with sales representatives to conduct sales calls to equipment dealers, consultants, chain accounts, and end users.
  • Effectively manage all territory leads through the sales funnel by generating, organizing, nurturing, qualifying, negotiating, and closing deals.
  • Foster strong relationships with buying groups by attending conferences, delivering training sessions, and negotiating contracts.
  • Generate new product ideas by analyzing the competitive landscape and customer feedback, channeling this information into the new product development pipeline.
  • Assess pricing and marketing programs and provide recommendations to enhance market position.
  • Ensure a smooth customer experience by collaborating with product management, marketing, customer service, and technical service.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred or 10+ years of applicable sales experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in outside sales.
  • Excellent sales and product strategy development skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport across the company and with customers.
  • Experience in the Foodservice Industry, either Commercial or Residential, preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Effective personal time management and professional presentation skills.

  • Experience in product management and product strategy development.
