About the position

As the National Sales Manager for Romac Industries, you will be responsible for directing all outside sales and marketing functions for the waterworks division. Your primary goal will be to ensure that our products and services are marketed and sold in alignment with the organization's objectives and goals. This role requires a continuous evaluation of the sales and marketing strategy to adapt to changing market conditions and competitive landscapes. You will oversee staffing levels of outside sales executives, pricing strategies, and product offerings to optimize sales performance. In this position, you will work closely with the Inside Sales Department and Marketing team, making critical sales-related decisions that impact the overall success of the division. You will lead a team of 15-20 outside sales representatives, with 3-4 direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, sales growth, and integrity. Your responsibilities will include effective communication, hiring, training, coaching, and performance management of your team members. You will also be tasked with building and maintaining relationships with existing and new customers, including engineers, municipalities, and distributors. Analyzing sales information and overseeing the development of sales projections will be essential for each market area. You will interact with various departments, including Inside Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Engineering, to ensure seamless operations regarding customer orders, products, and returns. Additionally, you will evaluate market pricing, determine product selling prices, negotiate payment terms, and assist in the development of new products. This role involves extensive travel throughout North America, requiring more than 110 nights annually, to meet with Romac Outside Sales employees, distributors, municipalities, and potential customers. Your leadership will be crucial in driving the sales team towards achieving their goals and contributing to the overall success of Romac Industries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Outside Sales team of 15-20, with 3-4 direct reports, including effective communication, hiring, training, active coaching, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, sales growth, and integrity.
  • Hire new Outside Sales team members.
  • Manage relationships with existing and new customers, including engineers, municipalities, and distributors.
  • Analyze sales information and oversee development of sales projections for each market area.
  • Interact with Inside Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Engineering regarding customers, sales orders, products, and returns.
  • Evaluate market pricing and determine product selling prices.
  • Determine, plan, and implement price increases.
  • Negotiate payment terms and rebates for customer accounts.
  • Approve and assist in the development of new products and product changes.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers.
  • Travel extensively (more than 110 nights annually) throughout North America to meet with Romac Outside Sales employees, distributors, municipalities, potential customers, and others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in sales and management.
  • Knowledge of the waterworks industry, people, and products.
  • Highly motivated, courteous, and articulate, with strong sales and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet set goals.
