About the position

The National Sales Manager will be responsible for assisting the Sales Director in identifying key sales opportunities within a customer base to include all channels. This role will focus on leading key accounts within the dollar, mass, and alternate channels but will assist where needed. Responsibilities include continued growth of mass and dollar channel with focus on profitability. Additionally, building a plan to identify new customer opportunities and assist the Sales Director in the development, implementation and monitoring of sales strategies for all brands and accounts where needed. The individual will possess the drive and passion to access, develop, and implement all aspects of the annual sales plan in support of organizational strategy and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Translates marketing and business plans into clear commercial objectives, guidelines, and strategy to support development of commercial plan
  • Leads the development, implementation, and tracking of assortment, merchandising/shelving, pricing, and promotion strategy for multiple channels
  • Develop short term and long-range strategies, plans, and budgets based on corporate sales goals and growth objectives
  • Provides customer/field sales perspective to the marketing & R&D teams to support development and implementation of marketing plans
  • Tracks sales and works with sales director, trade performance manager and category manager to develop strategies to improve promotion and trade spend efficiency
  • Develops reports and tracking of key sales KPIs
  • Maintaining sales volume, product mix, and selling price by keeping current with supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors
  • Champions the synthesis of numerous data sources to provide clear, concise and actionable informational insights across the organization
  • Provides sales perspective on volume pacing and forecasts to support the demand consensus process
  • Responsible for advancing key sales strategic projects (e.g. brand expansion, channel development, bracket pricing)
  • Manages external broker partners and distributors
  • Educate executive management team current on important developments, trends, etc., in areas which can affect our business, i.e., competition, customer end markets, etc.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of sales experience (preferably in an CPG environment)
  • Experience managing a sales team, national customers and wholesaler/distributor
  • Experience with syndicated data (Circana/Nielsen) metrics and tools
  • Capability in working with forecasts management, reporting and creating customer sales presentations
  • Understanding of Financial spreadsheets and business plans
  • Experience working within a small, fast paced, tight knit, entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong individual contributor capable of operating without large support staff
  • Excellent communication, influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Track record of meeting and/or exceeding expectations
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and process/metric management capabilities
  • Team player with recognized collaboration and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to build relationships, present ideas, and lead people to support business goals
