About the position

The National Sales Manager is responsible for achieving established sales objectives through the development and execution of product sales and promotional programs. This role serves as the primary contact for specific retail customers and collaborates with various teams to formulate strategic business plans aimed at growth and expansion. The position requires maintaining strong customer relationships, leading account planning sessions, and ensuring operational excellence through accurate sales forecasting and effective communication with internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute product sales and promotional programs to meet sales objectives.
  • Formulate and execute strategic business plans with the Executive V.P. Domestic Sales and other teams.
  • Prepare product, pricing, and promotional programs to maximize profitable sales.
  • Achieve increased sales and broaden market share by understanding competitive products and market trends.
  • Maintain close working relationships with customers and meet regularly to discuss their needs.
  • Lead account planning sessions for upcoming line reviews with various internal teams.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to customers for line reviews and business updates.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts for assigned accounts through evaluation of historical data and market conditions.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure accurate pricing, sourcing, and inventory management.
  • Evaluate and manage customer Overbill to meet promotional and operational commitments.
  • Assist in resolving chargebacks/deductions through effective communication with customers and internal teams.
  • Manage and motivate the external sales force to achieve sales targets and KPIs.
  • Provide ongoing reporting and insights regarding customer and market climate.
  • Aid in planning and executing National Sales Meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or relevant experience required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5-7 years of key account experience in the consumer products industry, particularly with large volume mass retailers.
  • Previous sales experience with mass market and/or regional accounts.
  • Experience in the bicycle industry or consumer products is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Pivot Tables, Sequel Queries, and ERP systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce and Luminate.
  • Strong presentation skills for top management and public groups.
