About the position

The National Sales Manager at United Wheels Inc. is responsible for achieving sales objectives through the development and execution of product sales and promotional programs. This role serves as the primary contact for assigned retail customers and collaborates with various teams to formulate strategic business plans aimed at growth and expansion. The position requires maintaining strong customer relationships, enhancing customer service, and leading account planning sessions to ensure operational excellence and profitability.

Responsibilities

  • Meet established sales plan objectives through product sales and promotional programs.
  • Serve as the primary contact for specific retail customers assigned by the V.P. Domestic Sales.
  • Execute the Sales Plan for specific retail customers to achieve company's Sales and Margin goals.
  • Formulate and execute strategic business plans identifying areas of targeted growth and expansion for each retail customer.
  • Prepare product, pricing, and promotional programs that maximize profitable sales.
  • Achieve increased sales, improved profitability, and broaden market share by understanding competitive products and market trends.
  • Maintain close working relationships with customers and meet regularly to discuss their evolving needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service and problem resolution to enhance relationships.
  • Lead account planning sessions with Product Management, Marketing, Design, and Procurement teams.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to customers for line reviews and business updates.
  • Develop accurate sales forecasts for assigned accounts through evaluation of historical data and market conditions.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure accurate pricing, sourcing, inventory management, and delivery of goods.
  • Evaluate and manage customer Overbill to meet promotional and operational commitments while driving profitable sales.
  • Assist in resolving chargebacks/deductions through communication between the customer, Finance, and Operations.
  • Manage, develop, coach, and motivate the external sales force to meet sales targets and KPIs.
  • Provide reporting on customer and market climate with insights and recommendations for sales and marketing plans.
  • Aid in planning and executing National Sales Meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or relevant experience required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of key account experience in the consumer products industry, managing large volume mass retailers.
  • Previous sales experience with mass market and/or regional accounts.
  • Experience in the bicycle industry or consumer products is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Advanced Excel, Pivot Tables, and ERP systems (similar to J.D. Edwards 9.0 or later).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Strong mathematical skills to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Salesforce and Luminate systems.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication.
  • Experience in managing large volume accounts in the bicycle industry.
