The National Sales Manager at Paul Mueller Company is a pivotal role responsible for directing and overseeing the sales policies, objectives, and initiatives for a specific business unit. In this role, the National Sales Manager will lead and direct the work of Regional Sales Managers, understanding customer motivations and effectively tapping into their needs and desires. The position involves coaching, teaching, and supervising assigned personnel, ensuring effective employee relations, and proactively engaging in employee coaching and development. The National Sales Manager will also resolve employee issues by identifying problems and implementing resolutions. The essential functions of the job include providing on-site leadership for project teams, managing performance (hiring, development, discipline, termination) of direct reports in collaboration with Human Resources, and building and maintaining business relationships at all organizational levels. The role requires responsiveness to sales staff inquiries and issues, collaboration with the business unit team to support processes and procedures, and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by enforcing standards and complying with legal regulations. Additionally, the National Sales Manager will oversee national sales, promotions, collections, and other activities to achieve sales targets, build positive relationships with existing clients, identify potential customers for new business opportunities, and represent the company at sales conferences and industry meetings. The position also involves preparing annual budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions, as well as developing creative sales techniques to meet business goals. Regular travel, up to 60% domestically, is expected, with minimal international travel.
