About the position

WPTZ/WNNE, the Hearst Television, NBC affiliate in the Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY market, is seeking an energetic, passionate, analytical, and creative National Sales Manager. This role is pivotal in setting new records across multiple platforms. The National Sales Manager will lead, motivate, and inspire the national sales team to exceed revenue goals while also assisting the Sales Manager with local sales when necessary. The ideal candidate will possess keen attention to detail, be highly organized, and prioritize client engagement. The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple challenges simultaneously, and excel in broadcast sales negotiation is essential. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and the ability to make decisions independently without daily guidance. In this role, you will primarily work at the station and also engage with clients off-site, attending sales calls and meetings. Capabilities for zoom/video conference meetings are necessary. The National Sales Manager will report directly to the General Sales Manager and is expected to set the tone for the national sales department by providing guidance and observing mutually agreed-upon sales goals and priorities. You will develop strategies to achieve national sales goals across various media platforms and work closely with the Local Sales Manager and General Sales Manager to foster a positive sales environment. Additionally, you will coach and inspire the national sales team, negotiate national business, and lead the station's political sales efforts, ensuring compliance with public file posting responsibilities and pricing guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Set the tone for the national sales department by providing guidance and observing mutually agreed upon sales goals and priorities.
  • Lead the national sales team with clear direction on expectations and strategies.
  • Develop strategies to achieve national sales goals across multiple media platforms.
  • Work with the Local Sales Manager and General Sales Manager to foster a positive sales environment.
  • Collaborate with the national sales team on forecasting, negotiations, and planning, coaching and inspiring national account executives to grow share.
  • Negotiate all national business and work with the national sales assistant on preempts and orders.
  • Lead the station's political sales efforts, including tracking payments, fulfilling public file posting responsibilities, and creating political pricing guidelines with the General Sales Manager.
  • Forecast national broadcast revenue.
  • Meet with agency buyers, planners, and media directors to build relationships and collaborate on achieving mutual goals.
  • Support the Local team to help build account share or leverage client relationships.
  • Achieve or exceed the national revenue budget.
  • Work with the General Sales Manager on inventory management, pricing, reporting, and forecasting.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in media sales or management experience.
  • Experience with Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, and Matrix.
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • Acute understanding of how to forecast future revenue.
  • Creativity to develop targeted, customer-focused marketing solutions using multiple media products including television, web, mobile, and multi-cast.
  • Take full ownership of national budgets and revenue goals, developing strategies to overachieve.
  • Organized and always prepared.
  • Ability to analyze issues thoroughly to make decisions, solve problems, and find solutions.
  • Proficient in building media packages, sponsorships, and sales presentations.
  • Excellent understanding of how to price and manage inventory.
  • Availability for domestic travel for maintenance of National buying contacts.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable automobile.
  • Related military experience will be considered.
