The National Sales Manager's primary responsibility is to meet established sales objectives on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis as outlined in the Marketing Plan and Goal Worksheet. This role involves developing and executing personal action plans directed at the solicitation of key accounts and new account acquisition. Activities include phone solicitation, marketing initiatives, e-mail blasts, site inspections, face-to-face sales missions, and attendance at trade shows to achieve the maximum activity required for success. The position demands a professional demeanor appropriate for a luxury environment, ensuring that all interactions reflect the high standards of the organization. The National Sales Manager will be responsible for prospecting new group business and conducting thorough research on potential business opportunities online. This includes responding to inquiries and requests for proposals, planning and executing a predetermined number of sales trips in feeder cities, and attending industry events as indicated in the Marketing Plan. The role also requires monitoring the operational execution of accounts with all departments, researching client room night histories for previous meetings, and managing room blocks effectively. In addition, the National Sales Manager will maintain in-depth account files, assist in updating the database on a continual basis, and perform periodic audits. Understanding the sales strategies and tactics of competitor hotels is crucial, as is the ability to negotiate rates for group accounts within the guidelines of the budgeted average rate. The position requires diplomacy, business analysis, negotiation, and proposal writing and presentation skills, along with the flexibility to perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
