About the position

The National Sales Manager at Drinkwater Products will play a pivotal role in developing and managing the outside sales team, directly collaborating with the organization's leadership. This position is focused on increasing sales and profitability by enhancing existing sales processes, systems, and approaches while simultaneously building new capabilities necessary for growth. A deep understanding of the industry, market dynamics, product applications, and customer needs is essential. The manager will be responsible for attracting, developing, managing, and retaining a motivated sales team capable of driving profitable business growth. This includes educating the team on product knowledge, competition, selling skills, and territory management. The National Sales Manager will lead the performance and daily activities of the sales team, designing and implementing effective sales strategies that expand the company's reach and enhance brand equity. Regular documentation and reporting of sales accomplishments, goals, and objectives will be crucial to ensure accountability and track progress. Additionally, the manager will establish a formal onboarding and training process for new sales representatives, coordinate account-specific strategies, and leverage existing sales tools while exploring innovative approaches to sales effectiveness. The role also involves evaluating profitability through new product promotions, pricing strategies, and business forecasting, as well as building and maintaining relationships with key strategic accounts. The National Sales Manager will actively seek out new business opportunities to boost revenue streams, ensuring alignment with the company's values throughout all initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Partner and collaborate with senior leadership and across departments to drive measurable results which meet the company's growth objectives.
  • Develop strong industry, market, application, product, and customer understanding.
  • Attract, develop, manage, and retain a motivated and competent sales team effective at growing profitable business.
  • Educate team on product knowledge, applications, competition, selling skills, territory management, and all other aspects associated with sales team success.
  • Lead and support the performance, day-to-day activities, and needs of the sales team.
  • Design and implement effective sales approaches that expand our reach, strengthens our current brand equity, and drives greater sales effectiveness.
  • Actively document, monitor, report important sales accomplishments, goals and objectives (team and individual) to leadership; driving accountability and ensuring objectives are being met.
  • Build a formal new sales rep onboarding and training process to support new sales representative growth.
  • Lead and support the development and implementation of overall team and individual territory sales plans.
  • Coordinate with sales team to implement and develop account specific strategies within key customers and markets.
  • Learn and leverage the existing sales tools, systems, and processes, while critically examining new innovative approaches to sales effectiveness.
  • Identify new approaches toward prospecting and lead generation beyond traditional approaches.
  • Partner with marketing to combine sales systems and activities with digital marketing efforts.
  • Evaluate and continue strengthening profitability through new product promotions, pricing strategies, business forecasting and planning.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key strategic accounts.
  • Actively seek out business opportunities that can boost additional revenue streams; acquisitions, strategic alliances, and business/product development.

Requirements

  • 10+ years' experience in a technically-oriented, B2B sales career (Sales Leadership, Management and Operations) with a proven record for building, managing, and growing sales teams.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Business, Management, Sales, Communications, and/or Advanced degree a plus.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and present information to a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Advanced understanding of sales and marketing strategies and technologies (Ex. CRM, digital marketing) and ability to help design and implement new sales process and systems to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Expertise to develop effective sales, operations, territory, and new market penetration plans.
  • Develop and drive effective sales performance management processes and systems.
  • Experience in collaborating with marketing and other business functions to optimize growth and overall organizational impact; leveraging technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Desire and capability to learn, grow, create, and succeed; taking a small national sales team from good to great.
