About the position

Kuehne+Nagel is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of International Supply Chain (ISC) Business Development to lead our U.S. ISC strategy, oversee a high-performing business development team, and ensure we meet ambitious volume and GP targets. This role will focus on driving growth, optimizing sales processes, fostering partnerships, and developing creative supply chain solutions. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the U.S. ISC strategy to achieve targets set by Sea Logistics Management.
  • Partner with ISC product leadership to communicate emerging trends, competitor developments, and new requirements.
  • Manage, develop, and support business development team members, ensuring their personal and professional growth.
  • Lead the team to meet or exceed ISC volume and gross profit (GP) targets.
  • Implement an effective sales pipeline and lead tracking process.
  • Conduct ISC training sessions and design a comprehensive training program across the U.S. organization.
  • Collaborate with Key Account Sales and Business Unit Sales to drive opportunities and implement vertical strategies.
  • Engage regularly with business unit sales management to identify target customers and develop strategic account plans.
  • Conduct whiteboard sessions, site visits, proposals, presentations, and demos to support customer acquisition and retention.
  • Maintain close communication with named customers and ISC operations to identify upsell opportunities and retention issues.
  • Oversee RFQ responses, including proposal writing, win themes, pricing, and alignment with executive team decisions.
  • Liaise with the Supply Chain Engineering team to develop innovative supply chain solutions for new and existing customers.
  • Manage and report on the U.S. sales pipeline to regional and global leadership.
  • Maintain a regional marketing library and support ISC-related marketing initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, international business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10-15 years of experience in supply chain operations, solution development, implementation project management, or business development support.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience managing direct reports.
  • Proven ability to develop sales strategies and present innovative solutions to customers in a team-selling environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a customer-focused approach.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
