About the position

The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting for a Natural Resource Manager 1 in Anchorage. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Are you ready to take on an exciting leadership role in shaping Alaska's future? We are looking for a dynamic and visionary leader to direct and inspire a team of land management professionals responsible for overseeing the authorization of easements across public lands, including public access and R.S. 2477 historic trails. As the Natural Resource Manager 1 for the Easement Unit at the Southcentral Regional Land Office (SCRO), you'll play a pivotal role in facilitating public land use, ensuring access, and developing Alaska's natural resources. This position is a working manager responsible for easement adjudication and management within the Easements Unit in SCRO. You will direct and mentor a dedicated team of up to seven staff while leading crucial decisions that enhance the quality of life for present and future Alaskans. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Education in a natural resource field, law, public administration, planning or economics.
  • Progressively responsible professional experience in natural resource management.
  • Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions.
  • Ability to make sound, well-informed, and objective decisions.
  • Skills in influencing and negotiating to build consensus.
  • Knowledge of data management principles and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with public land use access decision-making.
  • Familiarity with state and federal land laws governing Alaska.
  • Experience working with local utilities and the Department of Transportation.
