Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Forestry or a closely related natural resource program OR three years of experience in Forestry or a closely related natural resource program.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

• Experience in determining timber sale boundaries and logging feasibility analysis.
• Experience in determining road location and forest road construction methods.
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience in tree planting inspections and evaluating reforested stand health.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of annual operations plans for forest management.
• Recon proposed sale areas for timber sale boundaries, roads, and landing locations.
• Perform Upper Extent Fish Use/Seasonality Stream Surveys and enter data into GIS.
• Post timber sale boundaries and buffers.
• Develop timber cruise design and conduct timber cruises for species composition, volume, grade, and defect.
• Prepare timber sale contracts including provisions, exhibits, and associated reports.
• Identify locations for road construction and improvements, and mark these areas in the field.
• Conduct stocking surveys on young stands and evaluate overall stand health and vigor.
