About the position

The Natural Resources Specialist I plays a vital role within the Environmental Team at Chloeta, focusing on resource management and conservation initiatives for environmental consulting. This position requires a background in Ecology, Forestry, Rangeland Management, or Wildlife Management, and involves completing compliance duties related to the National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA). The specialist will work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure environmental compliance and contribute to high-performing team efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with local/state/federal agencies, tribes, and the public to help clients meet compliance requirements and develop resource management strategies.
  • Prepare environmental technical reports such as community impact assessments, Biological Assessments (BA), and Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans (INRMP).
  • Support the execution of environmental compliance and climate change initiatives, providing expertise for federal projects.
  • Utilize knowledge of environmental regulations to provide clients with comprehensive compliance solutions as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Assess and document impacts of proposed engineering actions through Categorical Exclusions (CATEXs), EAs, and Environmental Impact Statements (EIS).
  • Maintain expertise in NEPA, tracking regulatory changes and agency best practices.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, maintaining productive relationships with clients and partners.
  • Promote new business development efforts focused on environmental projects.
  • Collaborate with other environmental professionals to complete tasks.
  • Prepare and present reports and proposals detailing findings and resource management strategies.
  • Assist Business Development by analyzing requests for proposals and providing feedback on environmental contracts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in forestry, rangeland ecology, wildlife management, natural resources, ecology, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent technical writing/editing and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in environmental consulting or related fields.
  • Graduate coursework in forestry, rangeland ecology, wildlife management, natural resources, ecology, or closely related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Smartsheet.
