About the position

The Naval Architect/Marine Engineer position at ManTech International involves supporting various Air Cushion Vehicle (ACV) programs. The role focuses on design and analysis activities related to marine systems, including hovercraft and ships, while collaborating with project teams to meet customer requirements and regulatory guidelines. This position offers opportunities for career advancement within a diverse team dedicated to national security.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide variety of design and analysis activities related to hovercraft, ships, boats, and other marine systems.
  • Act as task lead on design and analysis activities related to centrifugal fans and ducted air propellers.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, program managers, and CAD designers.
  • Manage task requirements and work execution timelines through development of Plans of Actions with Milestones (POAMs).
  • Review technical data to identify and diagnose problems, providing recommended solutions.
  • Plan and conduct research, development, or installation of products and systems in conformance with customer requirements.
  • Produce high-quality deliverable reports documenting procedures and results of design and analysis activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, naval architecture, or structural design.
  • 4 or more years of relevant experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to travel and perform ship inspections as needed.
  • Ability to utilize spreadsheets for design equations.
  • Ability to generate high-quality design and analysis reports.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience related to fan design.
  • 2 or more years of Computational Fluid Dynamics experience.
  • Experience with the US Navy, including on active duty or as a support contractor.
  • Experience working with composite materials and understanding of fabrication processes.
  • Ability to generate complete and functional 3D model assemblies.
  • Ability to generate complete, high-quality 2D drawing packages.
