About the position

The Supported Education and Employment Specialist (SEE) role at CentraCare is part of the NAVIGATE program, which focuses on providing coordinated specialty care for individuals experiencing first episode psychosis. This position involves working directly with clients aged 15 to 40, helping them achieve their education and employment goals through individualized support and training. The SEE specialist collaborates with community employers and educational personnel to create tailored opportunities for clients, ensuring they receive the necessary accommodations and ongoing support to succeed in their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly in the community to find suitable employers and potential employers.
  • Collaborate with educational personnel to provide suitable training or educational opportunities.
  • Develop individualized placements that cater to the client's needs in collaboration with employers and educators.
  • Assist clients in developing and requesting reasonable accommodations in job or educational settings.
  • Help clients achieve recovery goals related to education and employment using the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.
  • Provide in vivo training to improve clients' interviewing skills, resume writing, and job applications.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and job coaching as needed.
  • Support individuals who have attained a job with ongoing support and regular check-ins for work-related problem solving.
  • Coach individuals enrolled in educational programs on study and organizational skills, coping with symptoms, and cognitive difficulties.
  • Participate in SEE training and attend supervision and consultation calls.
  • Attend and participate in weekly team meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area or degree with directly related experience.
  • Experience as a supported education or supported employment specialist, or as a vocational specialist.
  • Online and computer skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Coaching skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work beyond traditional office hours if needed by clients.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in community-based work with clients.
  • Familiarity with the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model.
