About the position

Amee Bay, LLC, a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, is seeking experienced Navy Engineering Operations Specialists to join our team in Chesapeake, VA. This role is crucial for supporting various engineering operations within the Navy, and the selected candidates will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are essential for the maintenance and operation of naval equipment and systems. The Navy Engineering Operations Specialist will perform shipboard tag-out procedures, manage WAF programs, and adhere to applicable Naval procedures and instructions. A strong understanding of OSHA safety practices is also required to ensure a safe working environment. The responsibilities of the Navy Engineering Operations Specialist include troubleshooting, disassembling, and inspecting electrical equipment with limited supervision. Candidates will be expected to disassemble, reassemble, and operationally test equipment, as well as read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals. The role involves cable run fabrication and wire way fabrication, along with the installation, maintenance, and repair of AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting, and alarm circuits. Additionally, the specialist will troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical and electronic equipment and cables, disconnect and reconnect motors and electrical equipment, and adjust or replace components of motors, generators, and alternators. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED, with military training or completion of a vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program. A minimum of five years of shop experience is required, along with six years of practical engineering experience related to naval ship equipment and systems. The position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance. Candidates must also have a valid U.S. Driver's License and be willing to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed. Preferred skills include experience with ISODRAW and Adept Editor software, fiberoptic certifications, and knowledge of shipboard electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform shipboard tag-out procedures and manage WAF programs according to Naval procedures and instructions.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, and inspect electrical equipment with limited supervision.
  • Disassemble, reassemble, and operationally test equipment with limited supervision.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals.
  • Fabricate cable runs and wire ways as needed.
  • Install, maintain, and repair AC and DC generators, switchboards, distribution panels, lighting, and alarm circuits.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical and electronic equipment and cables.
  • Disconnect and reconnect motors and electrical equipment as required.
  • Adjust, align, or replace components of motors, generators, and alternators.
  • Install shipboard power and lighting circuits using schematics and blueprints for routing and connection.
  • Identify various cables by cable types, number of conductors, and wire size.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Security Clearance and Base Access; candidates with an active Secret Clearance are preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED with completion of military 'A' or 'C' school(s) or a vocational, maritime, or journeyman training program.
  • Five (5) years of shop experience providing practical knowledge of quality assurance programs and quality control inspection systems.
  • Six (6) years of practical engineering experience, including operation, testing, maintenance, and repair of naval ship Hull, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, and Ordnance equipment and systems.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required.
  • Must pass drug screening as a condition of employment.
  • Candidates must furnish their own hand tools required for this position.

Nice-to-haves

  • Ability to develop and update engineering operational procedures and diagrams utilizing ISODRAW and Adept Editor software (or equivalent).
  • Fiberoptic experience and certifications are a definite plus.
  • Prior military experience directly related to the position or prior experience in the Maritime Industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Shipboard AC (60 and 400 Hz) and DC electrical systems.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems such as switchboards, switchgear, distribution panels, and controls.
  • Working knowledge of trade mathematics and formulas to calculate voltage, amperes, and resistance requirements.
