About The Position

The Branch Supervisor at Northfield Bank plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operations of the branch by partnering with the Branch Manager and Assistant Branch Manager. This position involves supervising teller staff, ensuring compliance with bank policies, coaching employees in sales techniques, and maintaining high standards of customer service. The Branch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing customer transactions, and promoting bank products and services to achieve branch sales goals.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two-year college degree or 2+ years banking experience, including supervisory experience.
  • Proficient with all Teller-related functions, including cross-selling bank products (1+ years' experience required, 2+ years' experience preferred).
  • Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills (1+ years' experience required, 2+ years' experience preferred).
  • Good computer skills (1+ years' experience required, 2+ years' experience preferred).
  • Ability to multi-task effectively (1+ years' experience required, 2+ years' experience preferred).
  • Supervision of staff (1+ years' experience required, 2+ years' experience preferred).
  • Operating an Adding Machine required.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and transfer coin bag (approximately 30 lbs).

Responsibilities

  • Assist all staff with job-related questions and ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Assistant Manager and Branch Manager, assuming authority in their absence to ensure responsible daily operations.
  • Monitor and approve customer transactions, manage the teller area, and complete daily proofing of branch-related areas.
  • Review daily reports of customer activity and complete necessary paperwork for compliance and BSA purposes.
  • Enforce dual control procedures for branch cash and vault management.
  • Monitor compliance with procedures involving non-deposit products such as wealth management and retirement planning investments.
  • Complete periodic internal branch audits and ensure adherence to security procedures.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all products and services to assist staff and customers.
  • Train and develop staff towards compliance and exceptional customer service.
  • Coach staff in building relationships through referrals and cross-selling bank products and services.
  • Participate in performance management processes, including evaluations and addressing performance issues.
  • Manage hiring, training, and retention of staff in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Cross-train in all positions within the branch and perform operations duties as needed.
  • Model appropriate sales techniques and consistently cross-sell bank products to contribute to sales goals.
  • Assist in customer outreach and manage outbound calls to educate customers about products and services.
  • Proactively strive to retain and grow the customer base through efficient operations and exceptional service.
  • Maintain clear communication between branch management and staff, addressing questions and disseminating information promptly.
  • Promote Northfield Bank in the community through involvement in local organizations and events.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and maintain a positive demeanor at all times.
  • Adhere to professional work attire guidelines and maintain satisfactory attendance.
