The NCWorks Career Coach-Greene County position at Lenoir Community College is designed to support high school students in defining their career interests and exploring educational opportunities. The Career Coach will be embedded within high schools, providing essential guidance and resources to help students navigate their post-secondary options, particularly in career and technical education programs. In this role, the Career Coach will engage with students to organize career planning activities, develop academic and career goals, and provide both group and individual coaching sessions. The aim is to enhance the quality of career counseling available to students and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about the various pathways available to them after high school. The Career Coach will also be responsible for planning and delivering workshops focused on career development, including topics such as career assessments, financial aid applications, and opportunities for internships and apprenticeships. Additionally, the Career Coach will maintain an online occupational library that provides comprehensive information on various careers, employment trends, and educational requirements. This position requires the ability to monitor student interests and job market trends, maintain accurate records of coaching activities, and promote student participation in outreach events. The Career Coach will also be tasked with creating partnerships with local businesses and workforce development stakeholders to enhance career services for underrepresented and first-generation college students. This role is crucial in connecting students with academic enrichment activities and ensuring they are aware of local and regional workforce needs.
