About the position

As a Network Engineer at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Department of Defense's mission by enhancing and maintaining network systems that are vital for national security. This position involves working within the NCIS ITDS organization, where you will be responsible for testing, analyzing, and optimizing network performance across multiple enclaves, ensuring the reliability and security of communication systems.

Responsibilities

  • Test and analyze all elements of network facilities.
  • Monitor and control the performance and status of network resources on multiple enclaves using software and hardware tools.
  • Identify and diagnose problems affecting network performance.
  • Analyze network performance, usage, traffic flows, access, and interfaces.
  • Provide technical planning and analysis for communication activities, including designing, integrating, installing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance services.
  • Perform testing, provisioning, operations, and emergency response for ongoing network operations.
  • Oversee and manage the deployment of upgrades to existing data, video, and related systems in a multi-location environment.
  • Ensure all required operational and support documents are current.
  • Maintain a current understanding of emerging technologies and trends in online media, cloud service, storage solutions, and other data center technologies.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • 8+ years of network engineering and administration experience.
  • BS Degree or 4 additional years of work experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with engineering data center and IP backbone networks in a multi-vendor, multiprotocol environment.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as BGP, OSPF, vDC, vPC, VRF's, Spanning-Tree, VLANs, 802.1q, QoS, Cisco ASA with Active/Active Multiple Contexts Firewall.
  • Expert level configuration of Cisco routers and switches including: 4500/6500, 3750, 3850, and ASR 1000 Nexus 2K/5K/7K/9K.
  • Experience with configuration and management of firewalls; Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, Forcepoint Sidewinder, and Juniper.
  • Familiarity with NTP /MAB/F5 Deployment.
  • Experience with Network Management Apps - Cisco ACS/ISE, Cisco Prime, SolarWinds.
