About the position

Responsible for a broad range of communication initiatives for NASA's Heliophysics Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C. This role involves the research, strategy, planning, integration, and execution of communication strategies, plans, and message management processes across multiple communication disciplines and platforms. The position requires the development of a broad range of communication initiatives and outreach activities that educate, inform, and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Duties include contributing to high-level executive communications including quick turnaround responses, writing and editing of communication products, and collaborating on the development of targeted media campaigns, background materials for media events, and other media relations products. The individual will be responsible for researching and recommending innovative opportunities for media outreach and generating routine and/or ad-hoc reports for the client to include metrics management to assess the impact of communication products and services. This position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks, with occasional travel to provide on-site communications support for activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communications, journalism, or other appropriate area of specialization.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in strategic communications.
  • Advanced oral and written communications skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • Advanced writing and editing skills.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to travel.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
