About the position

The Chief of Staff at New College of Florida serves as the direct manager of all Cabinet members within the NCSA (New College Student Alliance). This role is pivotal in ensuring that the programming and initiatives of the NCSA run smoothly and effectively. The Chief of Staff will work closely with the President and Vice President of the NCSA, as well as all Cabinet members, to facilitate communication and collaboration among the various stakeholders involved in student governance. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success in this position, as the Chief of Staff will be responsible for chairing Cabinet meetings, managing paid positions, and ensuring that all initiatives are followed through by Cabinet members. In this role, the Chief of Staff will chair Cabinet meetings, which includes compiling agendas in collaboration with the NCSA President. They will also manage all hired NCSA positions, including Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Cabinet members, ensuring that they are fulfilling their responsibilities and submitting their time sheets on time. Additionally, the Chief of Staff will collaborate with the student government president to develop and implement strategies that promote effective governance and student representation. This includes supporting the student government president in their daily activities, such as scheduling, correspondence, and preparation for meetings and events. The Chief of Staff may also be assigned other duties as needed, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the NCSA.

Responsibilities

  • Chair Cabinet meetings, including compiling an agenda with the NCSA president.
  • Manage paid positions, including all hired NCSA positions (TAs, Cabinet members, etc.).
  • Ensure Cabinet members are following through on initiatives and turning in their time sheets.
  • Collaborate with the student government president to develop and implement strategies for effective governance and student representation.
  • Support the student government president in their daily activities, including scheduling, correspondence, and preparation for meeting events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled student at New College of Florida.
  • Must be in good academic standing (minimum cumulative institutional 2.5 GPA for undergraduate students and 3.0 GPA for graduate students).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in student government or similar leadership roles is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Student Government Constitution and Statutes.
