About the position

The Senior DevOps Engineer role in Burbank, CA, is a contract position focused on contributing to the technical strategy and vision for global DevOps initiatives within the media industry. The engineer will collaborate with international teams to develop and implement DevOps solutions, ensuring adherence to project deadlines and service level agreements (SLAs). This position requires expertise in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment, along with strong knowledge of AWS and container orchestration technologies like Kubernetes and Docker.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the technical strategy and vision for enterprise global DevOps initiatives.
• Collaborate with international operations, product, and software engineering teams to develop and implement DevOps solutions.
• Design, implement, and maintain Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
• Analyze software deployment and release requirements for projects and provide recommendations for release management strategy.
• Provide DevOps technical expertise and Systems Engineering expertise.
• Administer, maintain, and support CI/CD software tools and systems.
• Support Hybrid environment of AWS and on-prem VMWare with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Automate and improve upon software delivery pipeline features and functionality.
• Automate manual processes for general system administration and maintenance.
• Resolve technical issues while working independently and facilitate escalation with DevOps and Systems Engineering teams.
• Identify gaps and bottlenecks in deployment pipelines and recommend solutions or suitable alternatives.
• Execute and deliver end-to-end DevOps solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• Strong knowledge and experience with designing and implementing technical solutions in support of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Deployment.
• Strong experience building global, highly scalable web applications with automated environments leveraging AWS.
• Strong experience with AWS services: API Gateway, DynamoDB, EC2, ELB, IAM, Lambda, RDS, Route 53, S3, and VPC.
• Strong experience designing and implementing high availability and Auto Scaling for AWS services.
• 5 years experience developing and managing software delivery pipelines using build tools including Git, Jenkins, Maven, and Gradle.
• 5 years experience with Salt or other Systems Configuration Management (SCM) tool: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform.
• 3 years experience administering/maintaining/supporting Docker and Kubernetes.
• Scripting experience with BASH preferred, including knowledge of Python, Ruby, or other scripting languages.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to isolate an issue.
