About the position

The Wheelchair Van Driver at LifeCare Mobility Transportation is responsible for safely transporting passengers, particularly those in wheelchairs, from hospitals to various medical facilities, homes, or rehabilitation centers. This part-time role emphasizes compassionate communication and adherence to safety regulations while providing a reliable service to patients in need of transportation assistance.

Responsibilities

• Drive passengers to specified locations in a safe and timely manner
• Load and unload patients in wheelchairs from hospitals to their homes or rehab facilities
• Maintain a clean and organized van interior
• Communicate effectively and compassionately with passengers and hospital staff
• Administer oxygen when required
• Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations
• Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks

Requirements

• Previous experience as a Wheelchair Van Driver or similar role is preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Must be able to assist patients with oxygen when necessary
• Ability to lift heavy objects when necessary
• BLS, CPR, EMR, EMT or Paramedic certifications are a major plus
