About the position

The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) at Conflux Systems Inc. in Honolulu, HI, is responsible for providing direct patient care to normal-to-high-risk infants in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). This role involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures, as well as collaboration with physicians to manage neonatal caseloads. The NNP serves as an advocate for patients and families, coordinating pre- and post-operative care, and supporting neonatal units during crisis situations. The position requires the ability to work overnight shifts and is critical to the NICU department's operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures to a group of normal-to-high-risk infants.
  • Manages neonatal caseload with physician consultation and collaboration.
  • Serves as patient and family advocate in identifying healthcare needs and actions for neonatal cases.
  • Coordinates pre- and post-operative care activities for normal-to-high risk infants.
  • Supports neonatal units during crisis situations.
  • Interprets antenatal/perinatal health history.
  • Assesses gestational age.
  • Performs resuscitation of newborns in the delivery room and in Neonatal Units.
  • Performs physical exams and evaluations on infants in the Delivery, Neonatal, and Mother-Baby Units.
  • Performs specialized procedures on high-risk infants including catheterization and lumbar puncture.
  • Orders/interprets lab tests, radiographs and routine diagnostics.
  • Prescribes phototherapy, antimicrobial therapy, and enteral/parenteral nutrition.
  • Makes rounds on designated patients and evaluates care and progress.
  • Documents admission history, assessments, procedures, and discharge summaries.
  • Collaborates with attending MD regarding treatment plan of assigned infants.
  • Develops, implements, reviews, and revises standards/procedures/protocols for Neonatal Care.
  • Provides educational programs for staff to support quality improvement activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience as a neonatal care nurse practitioner.
  • Licensed NNP with a Master's degree in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
  • Basic Life Support certification from American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
