About the position

The Application Architect/Technical Lead at UMB Bank will define and execute the technical strategy for card-related solutions, ensuring alignment with product and business strategies. This role involves leading solution recommendations, serving as a technical subject matter expert, and maintaining strong relationships with various teams to resolve technical issues. The position also includes participation in system upgrades and providing mentorship to team members.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute technical strategy for card-related solutions.
  • Lead and drive solution recommendations using gap analyses across multiple technology options.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for UMB's enterprise and card processor system.
  • Interact with the vendor team to resolve technical issues and serve as a technical point of contact.
  • Maintain strong relationships with other teams within the technology organization to partner and collaborate during problem resolutions.
  • Participate in ongoing system upgrades and patches as needed.
  • Deliver on 'Business As Usual' (BAU) commitments as outlined on the BAU Roadmap.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to team members.
  • Perform additional application architecture duties, as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely related field.
  • Seven years progressive experience in software development including system architecture.
  • Three years of experience in SOA.
  • Experience with TSYS card processing platform.
  • Experience in web services architectures, system integrations, and implementation.
  • Ability to execute complex solutions from design through implementation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Banking Payments domain and understanding of complex technical aspects of the holistic card processing system.
  • Ability to understand risk and impact to business processes during production issues.
