About the position

The Sr. NETOPS System Administrator at the Joint Cyber Training Enterprise (JCTE) plays a critical role in enhancing network and system stability while advancing NETOPS maturity. This position requires a deep understanding of various IT and cybersecurity products, tools, architectures, and implementations. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise to provide detailed reporting and monitor system resource utilization for both individual and large-scale collective training exercises. Collaboration with customers and third-party organizations is essential, as the candidate will need to respond to ad-hoc technical requirements while effectively managing priorities across the enterprise. The ability to thrive in high-pressure situations is crucial for success in this role. In this position, the Sr. NETOPS System Administrator will be responsible for monitoring system performance, utilizing platform tools, and maintaining effective communication with reporting agencies. Key responsibilities include overseeing system virtualized resources, identifying best practices, and supporting large-scale cyber exercises. The administrator will contribute to cyber training initiatives and help establish an internal NETOPS capability at JCTE. Working alongside a skilled team, the NETOPS Administrator will provide network and resource monitoring expertise for training operations across the United States Cyber Command (USCC) and various service components and agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor system performance and resource utilization for individual and large-scale training exercises.
  • Utilize platform tools to enhance network/system stability and analytics.
  • Communicate effectively with reporting agencies regarding system performance and issues.
  • Oversee system virtualized resources and identify best practices for optimization.
  • Support large-scale cyber exercises and contribute to cyber training initiatives.
  • Help establish an internal NETOPS capability at JCTE.
  • Collaborate with a skilled team to provide network and resource monitoring expertise for training operations across USCC and various service components and agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as IT, computer science, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university (5 years' experience in lieu of degree).
  • 6+ years of directly related experience supporting help desk operations.
  • 8570 Compliant IAT Level II or greater certification.
  • Security+, CISSP or other equivalent certification required within six months of hire.
  • Experience in day-to-day network performance monitoring.
  • 2-5 years of experience with analytics tools such as Metabase and Grafana.
  • Ability to collect and analyze metrics and trending data, developing data standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience analyzing data sources, assessing validity, and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Experience with VMware, Net App, and RedHat Linux (RHEL).
  • 2-5 years' experience in technical support and quality assurance for platform resources and services.
  • Self-starter in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with engineers of varying skills and experience levels.
  • Effective written and oral communication with leadership on both business and technical aspects.

  • Problem-solving skills for resolving technical issues across diverse integrated software and hardware platforms.
  • Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques.
  • Proficiency in generating queries and reports, utilizing data analysis tools such as Excel, Meta Base, and SPSS.
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Effective communication with vendors, users, customers, and developers to comprehend needs and operational requirements changes impacting the production environment.
