About the position

Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Administrator to support the voice and data networks for the 14th Flying Training Wing at Columbus AFB. This full-time position involves managing, operating, and maintaining various voice and data systems, ensuring their functionality and security while providing technical support to users.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, operate, maintain, and administer the base voice system including network tables and user resources.
  • Support diagnostic, maintenance, and programming changes on current software applications and perform system backups.
  • Operate and maintain the music on-hold service using the Air Force Radio News on Hold service.
  • Operate and maintain the Avaya AS5300 voice system and associated equipment.
  • Manage the installation's ACD system including reconfiguration and call routing modifications.
  • Operate and maintain the CAIRS system for call accounting and voice system record updates.
  • Produce semi-annual system capacity records for the voice switch and remotes.
  • Administer and configure all devices within the Columbus network enclave including switches, routers, and servers.
  • Apply DISA STIGs and vendor configurations according to guidelines and schedules.
  • Manage government Network Management Systems (NMSs) and Base Information Protect (BIP) area.
  • Perform network and circuit baseline checks and evaluations for infrastructure devices.
  • Provide quarterly reports to 14 CS/CC including trends and root cause analysis.
  • Assist with VPN client installation, troubleshooting, and configurations.
  • Coordinate encryption key changes between clients and VPN servers.
  • Document all service access points to and from CAFB networks according to accreditation packages.
  • Install, remove, and replace wireless equipment connected to the CAFB network.
  • Provide real-time situational awareness of wireless AP availability and generate tickets for issues.
  • Provide Tier I and Tier II support to units with DoD and AF authorized WLANs.
  • Perform Tier II troubleshooting on government-furnished mobile voice devices.
  • Support base users, unit CLs, and system administrators with hardware, software, and secure systems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years experience in network administration and support.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field desired.
  • Must be Security+ certified.
  • Experience in all phases of the engineering lifecycle including requirements, architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operations.
  • Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Ability to assess infrastructure and recommend improvements.
  • Technical guidance and direction to system administrators and help desk technicians.
  • Knowledge of relevant server-side tools and technologies.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management using automated solutions.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and desktops in an enterprise organization.
  • Extensive experience with security related to network architecture and devices.
  • Solid customer service and communication skills.
