In this role, the Network Administrator/Systems Engineer will be part of a collaborative team focused on providing the best possible solutions for our customer's mission needs. The TURTLESOUP program emphasizes a fast-paced environment where you can grow your skills and make a real impact. The candidate will be responsible for providing specifications and detailed drawings, as well as a Bill of Materials (BOM) for network architectures. This includes conducting cost/benefit studies and providing detailed information for hardware, data center selection, and implementation techniques to meet business needs, including present and future capacity needs. The candidate will also conduct testing of network designs and monitor network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration. Planning enhancements and upgrades to the network is essential, along with maintaining technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection. This includes routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, and more. The role requires familiarity with implementing and sustaining SNMP-based metrics, monitoring, and reporting software solutions such as ZENOSS or Solarwinds. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary to assist in vendor circuit orders, service implementation changes, IP subnetting, and troubleshooting IP and telecom-based service interruptions. The candidate must be willing to accept on-call requirements and minimal CONUS travel if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specifications and detailed drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for network architectures.
  • Conduct cost/benefit studies and provide detailed information for hardware and data center selection.
  • Plan implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
  • Monitor network hardware operations to ensure proper configuration.
  • Conduct testing of network designs and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection.
  • Implement and sustain router and switching solutions in a data center/telecommunications environment.
  • Work with IP and Telecom vendor-related issues, including circuit order implementation and service restoration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology or Information Systems with an emphasis in Internetworking, or a minimum of 8+ years of similar experience in the last 12 years.
  • 8+ years' experience with Cisco routers, including Integrated Service Routers (ISR).
  • Understanding and implementation of static routing, policy-based routing, access-control lists (ACL), and IP encryption tunneling protocols such as IPSEC.
  • 8+ years of experience with Cisco Catalyst series switches, including configuration and implementation of base IP routing and VLAN implementation.
  • 5+ years' experience in design and implementation requirements for customer network solutions, including diagram drafting and cost analysis.
  • Experience with SNMP monitoring platforms such as ZENOSS, focusing on node management and configuration of SNMPv3 accounting.
  • Ability to work with IP and Telecom vendor-related issues, including circuit order implementation and outage coordination.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Aggregate Service Routers (ASR) platforms.
  • Familiarity with Solarwinds monitoring software.
