About the position
As a Network Administrator Advisor at GDIT, you will play a crucial role in transforming technology into opportunity by designing, planning, and building communications networks. This position involves configuring routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems, ensuring the network operates smoothly, and collaborating with network architects to meet the company's needs. You will also be responsible for monitoring network infrastructure, troubleshooting issues, and implementing enhancements to improve network performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and build communications networks.
- Configure routers, switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems.
- Monitor network infrastructure and troubleshoot problems.
- Install and update network security software.
- Collaborate with network architects to design and implement networks.
- Perform maintenance and upgrades of networks including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Analyze and evaluate networks, identifying issues and providing solutions.
- Maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring policy compliance.
- Create plans and configure systems for data communication networks.
- Evaluate new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience in network administration.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Top Secret/SCI security clearance preferred.
- DoD 8570.01 or DoD 8140 certification required - Security+, or higher.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.
Nice-to-haves
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.
