About the position

The Network Administrator is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This role ensures the smooth operation of network systems, troubleshoots network issues, and optimizes network performance. The Network Administrator collaborates with IT teams to deploy network solutions that align with organizational goals and security requirements, while also monitoring network activity and implementing security measures to protect against cyber threats.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, configuring, and maintaining network hardware and software components.
  • Installing and upgrading network equipment and systems.
  • Monitoring network performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshooting network issues and providing technical support to end-users.
  • Implementing security measures to protect the network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Managing network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and inventory.
  • Collaborating with IT teams to implement network solutions that support business objectives.
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as backups and updates, to ensure network reliability.
  • Conducting network assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and compliance issues.
  • Providing training and support to staff on network-related technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, preferred.
  • Certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), or CompTIA Network+, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN).
  • Proficiency in network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and access points.
  • Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, SNMP, PingPlotter).
  • Knowledge of security best practices and experience implementing security measures (e.g., firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection/prevention systems).
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux) and network services (e.g., Active Directory, LDAP, DNS).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must display and be willing to take initiative in resolving network issues.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in IT, preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in Network Engineering, preferred.
