About the position

The Network Administrator will collaborate with System Administrators and Communications Administrators to manage and maintain the newly developed IPv6 network at Vandenberg Air Force Base. This role involves overseeing network architecture, including routers, switches, security devices, and various network management services, ensuring the network operates efficiently and securely.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and sustain the IPv6 network at VAFB.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement system security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Execute continuous monitoring to maintain system Authorization to Operate (ATO).
• Participate in cross-functional customer-facing integrated product teams (IPT).
• Support the Program Manager in estimating, reporting, and planning network administration tasks.
• Participate in Risk Management Boards (RMB) and identify network risks.
• Support off-hour system monitoring and troubleshooting during Launch activities.

Requirements

• Expert level experience in network administration.
• Proficiency in IPv4/IPv6, Layer 3, CISCO ACL, and Juniper Firewalls.
• Experience with test planning, hardware and software testing, and system testing.
• Strong knowledge of network management and Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with VMware Environment and Network Device Managers.
• Familiarity with firebird and fluke tools.
