About the position

The Network Analyst II position at Contra Costa County's Health Services Department involves managing and supporting complex network systems to enhance the health services provided to the community. The role requires a proactive individual who can troubleshoot effectively, analyze user needs, and implement technology solutions while respecting the diverse populations served. This position is integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of network operations within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of projects and manage resources to project completion.
  • Perform complex systems analysis duties in the development, installation, implementation, and evaluation of local area, wide area, or multi-protocol open data networks.
  • Analyze user information system needs and recommend solutions and appropriate technology.
  • Participate in County-wide complex projects as a team member.
  • Install, test, and configure network hardware and software.
  • Contact vendors for components, technical references, and services required for network expansion and maintenance.
  • Produce detailed accurate documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotations.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, database administration, telecommunications management, or a closely related field.
  • Four years of full-time experience in designing, installing, and maintaining complex LANs or WANs using TCP/IP, UDP, and other standard networking protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting client VPN solutions and site-to-site VPNs, 802.1x.
  • Vendor certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, PCNSE, PMP, Azure Certification.
  • Experience dealing with healthcare technologies, equipment, and protocols.
  • Data Center experience and overlay technologies (VXLAN, OTV, LISP, MPBGP with MPLS).
  • Experience with application layer firewalls.
  • Wireless experience including site surveys, AP placement, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with network monitoring software, IPAM, Visio, Agile/Scrum methodology, and ticketing systems.
